Well, the search has ended and a new era of Bison football has begun. The selection has been made and a 'fealess leader' has been pegged to navigate the Bison into the new frontier of Division I-AA football. Who is the new leader of the Thundering Herd? None other than Craig Bohl, the former Defensive Coordinator of a premier Division I-A football program, the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
NDSU Athletic Director Gene Taylor will announce this afternoon (Friday) that the Bison have hired former University of Nebraska assistant coach Craig Bohl as the new NDSU head football coach. Bohl takes over the Herd's reins after eight seasons as a Husker assistant; the last three as defensive coordinator. During Bohls first 7 seasons on the University of Nebraska defensive staff, the Huskers finished no worse than 22nd in the nation in total defense before slipping to 55th last year (Note** Injuries and sub-par talent played a heavy role). Bohl is no stranger to the Bison program as he served as secondary coach during the 1984 season.
