Game Of The Week....
South Dakota State (3-3) at Cal Poly (5-1)
The last three weeks the Jackrabbits haven't been very kind to their Southland Conference competition, defeating Nicholls State, McNeese State and Central Arkansas. Are the Jacks that good or are Southland Conference teams that bad this year? In taking a look at all the polls out there, I don't see alot of Southland teams. What I do see is a good representation by the Great West Football Conference. So Bunnies... it's time to make a statement to your GWFC brothers. Cal Poly, on the other hand, has two GWFC games under their belt, defeating Southern Utah and UC Davis. After a miserable loss to D-III Wisconsin-LaCrosse, this is SDSU's chance to join the "top dogs" or even win the GWFC. Let's take a look... The Mustangs hold the defense edge, while I'll call the offenses and special teams even. Cal Poly gets the +4 for home field advantage, which adds up to disappointment for Jacks fans... Cal Poly 27, South Dakota State 17.

The Truth Is....
First, I'd like to say that the Gophers are big favorites to win the NDSU/Minnesota game this weekend. Second, I'd like to say that both Bison and Gophers players put their pants on one leg at a time. Though I've heard rumors that Gopher's players wear skirts during the week and football pants on the weekend... Don't get excited rodent fans, just a little smack to start the day. But any given Saturday...
So do the Bison really have a chance to win this game? Let take a look at the matchup... On average, the Minnesota player is not necessary bigger, but is faster and quicker than the Bison player. Each and every week the Gophers play the best competition college football has to offer. Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, etc... And the Gophers play almost every week on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN Plus or the ESPN GameDay Package. Or in other words, better players, better competition, plus national exposure. Given the Gophers have a superior defense, an overwhelming edge on offense, and better special teamers; So again, do the Bison really have a chance? My answer is... why not? What would have been the score if NDSU had just played the Wisconsin Badgers? Probably pretty similar to the actual score of the Minnesota/Wisconsin game last Saturday. So tell me again Gophers fans, why don't the Bison have a chance?
Even better than a chance, I had a strange feeling in my gut this morning. And readers you know what that means... it means something special is going to happen this Saturday. My gut tells me that not only will the Bison make a game of it, but the Metrodome crowd is going to see something special. A lot of Gopher jaws are going to drop this weekend... North Dakota State 34, Minnesota 17.
