Game Of The Week....
#6 Eastern Washington (5-3) at #18 Cal Poly (5-3)
Is UC Davis as good as they appear... with consecutive wins over the Bison and Cal Poly? Or has their schedule been the biggest asset for the Aggies? Both NDSU and Cal Poly dropped games to UC Davis after pivotal losses the week before; Cal Poly to Montana and NDSU to Cal Poly. Confidence is a wonderful thing, but a loss of confidence can also be your worst enemy. So is Davis the cream of the Great West Football Conference? Probably not, but Cal Poly and NDSU sure made it look that way...
If Cal Poly has any hopes of making the playoffs, the Mustangs must overcome their problems and defeat a very salty Eastern Washington team this weekend. Is it possible? Lets take a look... Eastern Washington holds a definite edge over Mustangs on the offensive side of the ball, while Cal Poly has a lofty advantage on the defensive side of the ball. Special teams and any home field intangibles also go to Cal Poly. But the Mustangs are reeling from consecutive losses to Montana and UC Davis... It's tough to find out your not the best. Realistically, the Mustangs just need to put their pants on one leg at a time to win this game, but if Cal Poly continues to keep feeling sorry for themselves the Eagles will snatch this game away. This game is a must win for both teams to keep any playoff hopes alive.... so if one team stumbles early, the other team will have a decided advantage. Ya, I'm stalling, because this game is a tough one to decipher. Since it's Halloween, let's take a look into the crystal ball. Hmmm. Interesting. It's says here that UC Davis is in trouble this weekend. Sorry, wrong channel. I see feathers... A horse hoof... And a final score of... Cal Poly 24, Eastern Washington 21

The Truth Is....
Northern Colorado (3-4) at North Dakota State (5-3)
The road win over Southern Utah has got to make the Bison coaching staff feel good. A few new plays, a little game plan swagger, an opportunitistic defense and a couple of early scores, but still a second quarter nap and far too many penalties. I anxiously await a game in the near future when the Bison play quality football for a full four quarters. I know I'm tough on the Bison, but I also expect a lot. This isn't Pop Warner league football. But I won't rant and rave, JD's better at that. But anyway, what about the Bears/Bison game Saturday? I've tried but I can't really see where the Bears hold a distinct advantage on the Bison... The offenses and special teams are pretty even (narrowly Bison), but the Bison hold a wide advantage on the defensive side of the ball. Until the UC Davis game, I typically thought playing in the dome was a major advantage for the Bison... But along with a lot of Bison fans, I've started to rethink my position. The Bison Athletic Department has to make a call. Is the Fargodome atmosphere supposed to be fun? Is the atmosphere supposed to be electrifying? I forever support the Bison with all my heart and spare change, but for the past several seasons I haven't got that special "big game" feeling while walking into the Fargodome. But even with that being said, I fully expect the Bison to roll past the Bears... North Dakota State 28, Northern Colorado 17
