I would like to take an opportunity to extend a welcome not only to Bison football fans, but to all DI-AA football fans to the new and improved Bison Insider web site. The new web site came about due to two reasons. We, at Bison Insider, felt that the old site was becoming stale and out-dated, plus we wanted to make our fan site the same caliber as Bison football. The NDSU move to Division I prompted us to crank up Bison Insider up a notch. Basically, Bison Insider is the same web site just structured a little different and fine tuned. More links.... More insight.... More hardcore.... and definitely a little more flashy. Everybody at Bison Insider decided, at least from a columnist stand point, that we need to go back to our roots of unbridled criticism and praise. In other words, not everything in Bisonland is rosy and not everything is controversial. Bison Insider is going to tell it like it is today, tomorrow and in the future. You may not like it.... You may love it.... But either way we're going to shoot you the information right from the hip.
So what has changed at Bison Insider. We've official added a new member to the Bison family.... Jeff Picard. Last year, Jeff moved to Sioux Falls following a career as Freelance Sports Writer to take on a more stable job in the newspaper relm. We've always had mutual friends until one day Jeff contacted me and asked about doing some writing on the side for Bison Insider. We are thrilled to death to have Jeff writing for us and are proud to say that once again Bison football has converted yet another non-NDSU graduate into a die-hard Bison football fan. He attended a couple games with the rest of us last fall and now he is the one calling us to make sure we order him season tickets to next season's Bison games.
We've also added the Bison Insider SuperStore.... Not really to make any hard cold cash, but as a way to promote Bison Insider and we thought it would be cool to have our own Bison Insider store. We still don't sell advertising space on the web site and any advertisements you might find on the site are provided only as a link to another web site, in which Bison Insider finds interesting or helpful in obtaining football information. Back to the SuperStore.... Half of all net annual profits will be donated to the NDSU Development Foundation. We didn't feel good about selling merchandise on the net without donating some of the money to a worthy cause. The other half of the profits will be utilized for our own Bison Insider expenses such as domain registration, server space, and bandwidth. It's our way of quieting our spouses in telling us how much we spend on Bison Insider each year. So if you feel like buying something.... buy it.... if not that's fine too. I've ordered a couple of things and the quality is good. I'm especially pleased with the license plate frame. Very nice....
The 'Dress Up Gene Game' is back online. We spent a day getting that page working again. The page definitely brings back memories of the old 'iamabison' web site, plus it's just fun to tinker around with in my spare time.
We've also added a lot more tailgating and Bison 'mobile' photographs to the 'Fan Talk' page. If anyone out there is offended by the photos please email us immediately and the photo will be taken off the web site promptly. At the same time, don't be afraid to email us your photos for the 'Fan Talk' page. The 'Fan Talk' page is for you and your stuff....
The Intro 'Flash' sequence to Bison Insider is just flat out exciting to us. It's something we always wanted to do but never got around to building it. For right now, Bison Insider will have a strong flash component, until we get the non-flash side built. So you'll have to put up with the intro everytime you visit the homepage for a couple months.
Please remember that the new Bison Insider is still very much under construction and problems, such as broken links and missing photos, are possible. Pages such as the column archives will not be up for a couple of weeks. But let us know what you think.... either good or bad. Just send us an email. It's painless. It's harmless. We won't make fun of you. I promise.
That's almost all I have for you right now. But one last thing.... for the readers who make it to the bottom of this rather lengthy and tedious column I want you to do one thing. Send me an email... trainer@bisoninsider.com Include your name and complete address and the subject line "BI tote bag giveaway" to register for a totally free "Bison Insider" Tote Bag. Within the next day.... I'll reply to let you know that you are officially registered for the drawing. The winner will be drawn on May 1, 2005. Until then we'll see ya at the Bison Spring Game... JD
